After quite some time, 2019 brought a bunch of new and unique games to the PC platform. Among them, most notable were shooters such as Apex Legends, Borderlands 3 and Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, adventure games such as Sekiro: Shadow Die Twice and Control, and of course big role-playing games such as Red Dead Redemption 2.

From the rumors circling around, 2020 seems to be promising for the PC platform. This is partly due to upcoming release of next-generation consoles such as PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X which will show up with a bunch of new games featuring amazing graphics, and will also be available on PC in certain time. Also, Sony seems to be acknowledging importance of PC in video games industry, and there are speculations that some PlayStation exclusives will be ported to PC in due time.

Taking into the consideration all of the above, here is our list of the top 10 upcoming PC games that will (hopefully) be released in 2020:

10. Microsoft Flight Simulator

Microsoft Flight Simulator - Pre-Order Launch Trailer

First game on our list of top 10 upcoming PC games in 2020 is Microsoft Flight Simulator. Ever since its inception, Microsoft Flight Simulator was more of a technology benchmark, rather than an actual video game. With time, it even became a serious piece of software that enabled people to actually experience feeling of flying a real-life aircraft. Next installment seems to be going even beyond that. Visuals of upcoming Microsoft Flight Simulator are jaw-dropping. If you watch the game’s trailer, you will easily notice hyper-realistic graphics featuring amazing volumetric clouds and crazy detailed textures. According to the developer Asobo, and Microsoft, new Flight Simulator will use artificial intelligence to render every part of our planet in real-time. Taking that into consideration, it seems that this will be the best Flight Simulator yet.

9. Marvel’s Avengers

After huge box office success of 2012’s movie, Marvel teamed up with Crystal Dynamics to produce a new video game blockbuster. Featuring cast of the original movie as voice actors, Marvel’s Avengers will let its players to play as Captain America, Thor, Iron Man, Black Widows, and Hulk. Game will also feature a four player co-op mode which will be great for heroic sessions with friends or family members.

8. Ori and the Will of the Wisps

Ori and the Blind Forest proved to be a beautiful hand-painted game with an enchanting story and affectionate atmosphere. In short, a true work of art. Being acknowledged as such, Austrian developer Moon Studio decided to make another sequel to this amazing game. Although details about Will of the Wisps are scarce, game will take the players back to the Ori’s beautiful, yet hazardous world, and will provide yet another mystical story. Overall, Ori and the Will of the Wisps proves to be a strong contender for the title of the 2020’s best platform-adventure game.

7. Elden Ring

Even though FromSoftware still isn’t known as Rockstar Games or DICE, it is most certainly one of the most influential video game developers to date. Dark Souls, Bloodborne and Sekiro changed video games industry so much that it is hard not to see its influence in various contemporary games such as Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order or even Red Dead Redemption 2. Elden Ring is a new upcoming project which revolves around cooperation between FromSoftware’s chief producer Hidetaka Miyazaka and Game of Throne’s author George R. R. Martin. Details about this new game are extremely scarce, but rumors tell that it will be FromSoftware’s first open world game with gameplay similar to Dark Souls. It will also feature context-rich story. Judging by the previous success of Dark Souls, Elden Ring seems to be a promising title.

6. Watch Dogs Legion

Watch Dogs franchise had a rough start with its first installment, however, its sequel proved to be a solid open-world contender. Third installment, called Watch Dogs Legion will be set in a modern-day contemporary London. Players will be able to choose various different characters to play with, while the main theme of the game will be fighting a corrupt and fascist government. According to rumors, game will feature amazing visuals, and lots of content. Some critics already state that Watch Dogs Legion will be yet another reskinned Ubisoft’s open-world title. Hopefully, the launch delay will prove this to be wrong.

5. Halo Infinite

Halo Infinite

After long time Microsoft figured out that PC is an important platform and that it underestimated its own software platform called Windows. Good news are that changes are underway. Microsoft released Xbox Game Pass program even for PC players and Halo: Master Chief Collection is being published on Steam. In that sense, Halo Infinite won’t be an exception. Xbox exclusives seem to be a thing of past. Infinite will also launch on PC, probably at the same time when the new Xbox Series X will be released. As for the game itself, it seems to be yet another Halo, but the one that is going back to its roots. Hopefully, it will be a blast to play, just like the ones from the Bungie era.

4. Doom Eternal

DOOM Eternal – Official E3 Story Trailer

In 2016, id Software made a great reboot of Doom series that caught a lot of attention. Hardcore gamers were thrilled with fast-paced action that was smooth, dynamic, and yet at times very challenging. Doom Eternal brings all of that action to Earth. According to rumors, game will feature various new weapons and bizarre abilities, and will deliver even more explosive action. Besides that, id Software is also trying to make Doom’s multiplayer more interesting. Multiplayer will feature new asymmetric modes, and even some MOBA elements.

3. Resident Evil 3 Remake

Resident Evil 3 Remake - Official Announcement Trailer

After major company restructuring, Capcom has been on a roll in the past two years. Pleasing its fans with great games such as Resident Evil 2 Remake, Devil May Cry 5 and Monster Hunter: World, Capcom also recognized importance of PC audience. Company became so beloved that even won the Award for the best publisher of 2019. Following success of Resident Evil 2 Remake, which is considered to be one of the best remakes in video game industry yet, Capcom is preparing a Resident Evil 3 Remake for this year. Game will feature upgraded visuals and some new lore-friendly mechanics. It will also put strong emphasis on solving puzzles and delving deep into the mysterious zombie infestation phenomena.

2. Half-Life: Alyx

After more than a decade since the release of the last Half-Life, Valve surprised a lot of audience when it announced that Half-Life will receive a new installment in the series. Many hardcore fans were, unfortunately, very disappointed when Valve announced that Alyx will be a VR exclusive. Also, game won’t function as a sequel, but rather as a prequel to the events that happened in Episode 2. Being a VR game, Alyx will apparently feature a lot of environmental interactivity. Although audiences’ opinions about the game are divided, Valve most certainly created a lot of hype with its new upcoming project. In that sense, Half-Life: Alyx earned a second place on our list of the top 10 upcoming PC games in 2020.

1. Cyberpunk 2077

Well, obviously. It is a no-brainer that Cyberpunk 2077 is the first game on our list of the top 10 upcoming PC games in 2020. We have been hearing rumors and watching trailers about this game for the past couple of years. Visuals are amazing, setting looks cool and story seems to be promising. There are augmentations, cool weapons, nudity, action-packed plot, bikes, multi-level environments, and of course Keanu Reaves. CD Projekt Red recently delayed Cyberpunk’s release until September 2020. That news was a bit underwhelming, but taking into the consideration the greatness of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, we hope that CD Projekt Red will deliver a finished and amazing product. However, Cyberpunk 2077 seems to be losing hype a little bit. We’ve been hearing so much about this game that now we might consider it to be an old news. Hopefully, game will fulfill audience’s expectations and strengthen even more CD Projekt Red’s role as one of the major video game developers in industry.
