Although with a budget of $700 you can’t build a killer gaming PC, it is still enough to build a a very nice mid-range computer that will be able to smoothly run the latest video games on high to ultra settings in 1080p resolution, and quickly load office applications and other apps. With this kind of machine you can also build a great home media center that will allow you to smoothly watch 4K videos and TV shows on your big screen TV.

Our $700 build features the latest AMD Ryzen 5 5500 processor. Featuring 6 cores and 12 threads, the Ryzen 5 5500 proves to be an amazing budget CPU that is able to offer strong performance for low price. There is also 16 GB of fast DDR4 RAM, as well as one M.2 NVMe SSD which should offer fast boot times and plenty of storage space. In graphics department we’ve opted for the latest AMD Radeon RX 6600 which can boast with excellent shading performance, and decent raytracing performance. As you can see, our $700 budget gaming PC can deliver quite impressive gaming performance at 1080p resolution. It can run the latest PC games, like Assassin’s Creed Valhalla or Far Cry 6, at more than 80 fps on average, and is perfectly suited for playing competitive online first-person shooters at 1440p resolution.

Our $700 PC can also run extremely demanding games like Red Dead Redemption 2 and Cyberpunk 2077 at more than 45 fps on ultra settings, meaning that if you tone down graphics to high or medium preset, you can easily achieve smooth 60 fps. When it comes to raytracing performance, this PC isn’t the best for playing games on ultra settings with raytracing enabled, so you should consider getting a more powerful PC if this is something that you aim to achieve.

The AMD Ryzen 5 5500 is an amazing sub-$150 CPU that provides exceptional value for money. It has six processor cores and twelve threads, with a boost frequency of 4.2 GHz. Not to mention that this CPU has an unlocked multiplier, which means you can totally overclock it. The CPU comes with a basic AMD cooler that is adequate; but, if you are willing to invest a few dollars extra on a superior cooling solution, we strongly recommend the be Quiet! Pure Rock 2 Black cooler.

If you’re not preoccupied with performance benchmarks and testing, this CPU is for you. The Ryzen 5 5500 is just a bit slower than the Core i5-12400F and Ryzen 5 5600G, making it suitable for heavy-duty tasks like as video editing and content production. Overall, this is a pretty nice CPU that will not break the budget and will not be a bottleneck for your graphics card.


Motherboard: Gigabyte B450 AORUS M

The Gigabyte B450 AORUS M is an excellent low-cost micro ATX motherboard that does not skimp on functionality. It has a plethora of RGB headers and customization possibilities, allowing you to connect and create bespoke RGB lights in your PC. Apart from that, this is an excellent B450 motherboard. It is not well suited for CPU overclocking, but it does include some neat extra features, like two PCIe x16 slots that let you to run two graphics cards in Crossfire mode.

It is also worth mentioning that this board has a nice visual design, an easy-to-use BIOS, and a pre-installed I/O shield. In comparison to other low-cost boards, this one has USB 3.1 Gen2 ports, improved audio, and better VRM cooling. Overall, this is a pretty straight-forward, reliable, and affordable B450 motherboard.

Corsair’s Vengeance LPX DDR4 memory modules are great DDR4 RAM memory modules designed for high-performance overclocking that come with a very affordable price. With a CAS 16 latency, and very good timings at stock speed, this is one of the best budget high-performance memory kits currently available on the market.

Featuring heatspreader made of pure aluminum, these sticks run very cool, and due to their 8-layer PCB design offer incredible stability while being overclocked. Thanks to the XMP 2.0 support, these sticks are easy to overclock, so you don’t have to worry about manually tuning their timings and frequency in order to achieve system stability.

The AMD Radeon RX 6600 is an unjustly underrated graphics card. In terms of raw performance, it is right on par with the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 SUPER, but costs significantly less. It has 8GB of GDDR6 VRAM, and can easily run the latest video games, such as Far Cry 6 or Elden Ring, at more than 80 fps at 1080p resolution. The card also requires only one 8-pin connector to run, and draws only 130 W of power, which is a big plus.

The Radeon RX 6600 can also be used for 1440p gaming, especially if you like to play competitive online shooters at this resolution. Although the card features raytracing capabilities, its performance is quite mediocre, if not subpar, so don’t expect it to deliver the same results as its NVIDIA counterparts. The good thing, however, is that this card supports AMD FSR upscaling technology, meaning it is quite future-proof, and should outlive the next whole generation of graphics cards.

The Zalman S3 can also house up to two 3.5″ hard drives, and two 2.5″ drives, or up to four 2.5″ storage drives. Despite being a rather compact computer case, the S3 supports installation of up to eight 120 mm fans.
