Since everything is expensive these days, our primary goal was to select the most efficient components for our build, while looks and additional accessories were of less importance. It can run most FPS titles at frame rates higher than 70 FPS, and can even deliver very good system performance in the latest PC titles such as Assassins Creed Odyssey, or Metro Exodus. The GeForce GTX 1660 Ti isn’t as powerful as the current-gen RTX 3060 GPU, however, it is still quite capable graphics card, and it is a perfect choice for achieving enjoyable 1080p gaming experience in times when GPUs are hard to obtain. Featuring a TDP of only 65 W, and 32 MB of L3 cache, this CPU can be paired with a high-end GPU such as the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3060 Ti or AMD Radeon RX 6700 XT. Being specifically designed for gaming, the Ryzen 5 3600 isn’t a champion when it comes to video encoding and 3D rendering, but it does its job pretty well. This CPU also ships with its own cooler, however pairing it with a discrete GPU is a must, since has no integrated graphics. Despite being now two years old, the GeForce GTX 1660 Ti is still a great 1080p gaming graphics card that is able to deliver very good rendering performance for a reasonable amount of money. On average, the GTX 1660 Ti is about 15% faster than the regular GTX 1660, and almost 20% faster than the AMD Radeon RX 580 8GB. As such, the GTX 1660 Ti is capable of delivering more than 70 FPS on average on ultra settings at 1080p in the latest PC games, which is more than enough for most mainstream gamers.
Another reason why the GTX 1660 Ti is our top choice for our $1,300 PC build is the fact that this is a very energy efficient GPU. With a TDP of only 120 watts, the GTX 1660 Ti requires only one 8-pin power connector, and a PSU with a capacity of 300 watts. In short, the GTX 1660 Ti performs roughly the same as the GTX 1070, while consuming much less energy. The only drawback of this GPU, however, is the fact the it offers worse price-to-performance ratio compared to high-end RTX 30 series GPUs, such as the RTX 3060. However, given the fact that these cards are hard to obtain, the GTX 1660 Ti presents itself as the best possible option right now.
